Parking Lot Striping Paint

There are 2 different types of parking lot striping paint. Striping is one of the most essential aspects of a parking lot.

It allows your customers and business associates to park safely and keep things organized.

As a parking lot owner, you’re required to follow certain guidelines laid down by the ADA and they have specific requirements with regards to striping and they include the color and brightness of the stripes.

At Smith's Paving and Sealcoating, we believe that a good parking lot striping paint material can make all the difference when it comes to striping.

Here are three parking lot striping options available to you:

  1. Latex - Latex is the most affordable and commonly used solution. It’s a water-soluble paint that’s easy to work with and clean-up. It’s also less resistant to fading under the sun and can last for a long time. Many parking lot owners prefer this parking lot striping material because of the low upfront cost and easy application. Latex tends to dry fast as well, which is always a benefit because commercial parking lots can’t be left inaccessible for too long.
  2. Acetone Acrylic Copolymer - This paint lasts much longer than latex and is very durable. It’s a solvent borne solution that’s easy to clean up and work with. However, this paint is much more resilient and won’t need to be replaced as often as latex paints. The paint also has very low VOC and won’t harm you in any way during application. The acetone acrylic paint dries pretty quickly, so you don’t have to worry about your parking lot being inaccessible for a long time.
  3. Reflective Glass Beads - These can be added to the paint and is ideal for parking lots that are constantly in use. It is usually found on highways and signs and has a high level of visibility. It’s one of the reasons why this additive is a good idea for parking lot striping. This parking lot striping paint additive consists of thousands of little glass beads that adhere to the pavement surface with the help of a special binding agent. These glass beads reflect any light that falls on them instead of scattering it as most paints do. It makes the paint visible in the dark and ensures it immediately catches the driver’s attention.
